About the role
The United Nations Counter‑Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) is seeking a Legal Intern to support its BMLE team in New York. This internship offers exposure to the full spectrum of CTED’s work on terrorism trends, policy development, and high‑level diplomatic engagements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in planning and organising meetings, briefings, roundtables, seminars and other CTED events.
- Prepare background notes, talking points, and briefing documents for meetings and missions.
- Conduct research and contribute to analytical products on terrorism and counter‑terrorism trends.
- Draft and update country profiles and other background documents for high‑level events.
- Create infographics and visual aids for CTED documents and presentations.
- Attend meetings and conferences, take notes, and help prepare summaries and reports.
- Support ad‑hoc activities as directed by the Head of the BMLE Team.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (Master’s or Ph.D.) or the final academic year of a bachelor’s programme.
- Field of study closely related to legal, security, or counter‑terrorism issues.
- No prior professional experience required.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in another UN language is desirable.
