Lead Product Manager – Recommendations

About the role

As the Lead Product Manager for Recommendations at Scribd, you will own the end‑to‑end experience that helps hundreds of millions of monthly visitors discover content they didn’t know they were looking for. You will work at the intersection of machine learning and product, shaping the vision, metrics and experiments that drive breakthrough discovery features.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a multi‑year roadmap for candidate generation, ranking and results presentation across all Scribd surfaces.
• Partner with ML Engineering and Applied Research to translate cutting‑edge retrieval and ranking research into production systems that combine collaborative signals, content embeddings and real‑time behavioral data.
• Establish and monitor leading indicators of recommendation success such as engagement rate, click‑through, content completion and downstream subscription conversion.
• Balance short‑term relevance improvements with long‑term platform extensibility aligned with Scribd’s three‑year AI strategy.
• Synthesize experiment results, analytics, user interviews and feedback to inform prioritisation and feature design.

Required profile

• 8+ years of product management experience, including at least 4 years leading recommendations or search products in a high‑traffic consumer environment.
• Proven track record of shipping ML‑driven features that move core business metrics at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• Deep familiarity with retrieval and ranking algorithms, embeddings and feature stores.
• Hands‑on proficiency with AI tools such as LLM‑powered workflows, SQL copilots and data‑exploration platforms.
• Experience designing GenAI‑enhanced discovery experiences.
• Knowledge of modern MLOps tooling.
