Lead Ophthalmic Technician – Oculoplastics

About the role

The Lead Ophthalmic Technician – Oculoplastics works closely with clinic physicians to perform a range of ocular tests, support patient care, and ensure smooth clinic operations at Key-Whitman Eye Centers in Dallas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Clinic Manager/Director with daily administrative and clinical tasks, including supervising Ophthalmic Assistants and Diagnostic Technicians.
• Coordinate staff schedules and maintain appropriate coverage across multiple clinic locations.
• Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories.
• Perform visual acuity, pupil assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, HVF, HRT, and other functional ocular tests.
• Assist physicians with minor in‑office procedures, post‑operative care, and medication administration.
• Capture and maintain clinical photographs for documentation.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and postoperative instructions.
• Maintain exam rooms, instruments, and supplies according to clinic policies.
• Schedule diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow‑up appointments as directed.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an ophthalmology setting.
• High school diploma or GED; two or more years of college coursework preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between clinic locations.
