Lead HVAC Engineer – Critical Facility

About the role

The Lead HVAC Engineer will ensure 24/7/365 operation of a world‑leading cash processing and data‑center facility in East Rutherford, NJ. This critical role supports the current site and the transition to a new state‑of‑the‑art facility in Warren Township.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain 100% functionality of HVAC systems, including rooftop chillers, package units, and heat‑recovery equipment.
• Work the 7 AM‑3 PM shift, collaborate with other trades, and provide coverage on at least one weekend day as needed.
• Report to the Watch Engineer and the Director of Property Management, escalating issues when required.
• Act as the HVAC subject‑matter expert during the opening of the new facility and the transfer of operations.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of HVAC operational theory and practical trade skills.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision and communicate effectively with co‑workers.
• Willingness to obtain required NJ certifications within one year if not already held.

Required skills

• Experience with rooftop chillers and package units.
• Knowledge of heat‑recovery systems.
• NJ Low Pressure Black seal and NJ Seal Blue Engineers Seal (or ability to obtain).
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Basic computer skills: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Strong BMS (Building Management System) operation experience.
• Hydraulic system familiarity.
