Lead, Frontier Red Team (Cyber)

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a senior leader to head its Frontier Red Team focused on cyber‑security in the age of advanced AI models. The Lead will shape the company’s defensive vision, guide cutting‑edge research, and ensure that the world’s defenders stay ahead of emerging threats.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own Anthropic’s overall defensive cybersecurity strategy.
• Hire, build, and lead a world‑class research team of AGI‑focused cybersecurity experts and program managers.
• Conduct frontier research on offensive and defensive capabilities of Anthropic’s models, prototype defenses, and publish findings.
• Collaborate with Product, Training, Security, and Safeguards teams to integrate research outcomes into real‑world defenses.
• Engage with public stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners to influence policy and best practices.
• Make high‑level decisions on model access, threat prioritization, system hardening, and high‑risk research bets.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading advanced cybersecurity research teams.
• Deep understanding of AI‑driven threats and defensive techniques.
• Ability to communicate a compelling security vision to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel, including visits to Washington DC.
