About the role
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services seeks a Laborer/Horticultural Attendant to maintain turf and landscapes on campus under a horticulturist’s supervision.
Key responsibilities
- Mow, string‑trim, edge, and blow turf areas.
- Prune, mulch, control weeds and apply chemicals to plantings.
- Assist with landscape installation and planting projects.
Required profile
- One year of experience or training in farming, tree/shrub care, or groundskeeping, OR six semester hours in plant science or landscape studies.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain certification through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course.
- Full completion of the application’s education and work‑experience sections.
Required skills
- Mowing and turf maintenance techniques.
- String trimming, edging, and blowing.
- Pruning, mulching, and weed control.
- Application of landscape chemicals.
