Laboratory Technician – Central Accessioning

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work in the Central Accessioning Laboratory. You will play a key part in processing, tracking, and shipping specimens that support public health testing and surveillance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, open, and accession incoming specimens in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
• Perform data entry and assist the Accessioning supervisor with support‑service projects.
• Package and ship specimens to reference laboratories.
• Process samples within a Biosafety Cabinet and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Monitor inventory, report supply levels, and replenish needed items.
• Correlate patient identifying information on specimens with requisition forms to ensure accurate tracking.

• Works under broad supervision in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to follow strict safety and procedural protocols.
• Comfortable with a rapid‑pace, team‑oriented workflow.
