About the role

The Lab Service Worker supports the Welding and Joining Technology program at Gwinnett Technical College by managing tool‑room operations and maintaining a safe, organized welding environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide tool‑room support, including signing out and returning welding tools to students.
  • Organize the tool room, cut and arrange materials, and maintain inventory of consumable parts.
  • Notify the Program Director when stock levels are low and keep the welding lab clean.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Ability to work under close supervision in a part‑time, hourly‑paid position.
  • Willingness to complete annual Hazardous Materials Training.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with GTAW (Aluminum and Stainless) and GMAW welding processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing machine parts.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, welding gases, and consumable supplies.

What we offer

  • Hourly wage up to $16.64 per hour.
  • Flexible schedule of 20‑29 hours per week.
