Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II – Jackson, GA

About the role

Under general supervision, the Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II provides social services to support the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders in custody or on probation. This position works within the Department of Juvenile Justice to develop and monitor individualized rehabilitation plans.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to assess progress and compliance with probation contracts.
• Recommend remedial actions or initiate court proceedings for non‑compliance.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens.
• Maintain detailed case files for each assigned offender.
• Discuss substance abuse and anger management issues with offenders.
• Conduct pre‑hearing investigations and testify in court regarding offender backgrounds.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements such as restitution, education, and employment stipulations.
• Write progress reports and evaluate legal issues.
• Arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment services as needed.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, including electronic monitoring and field visits.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field and two years of relevant human‑services experience, OR four years of direct case‑management experience with offenders, OR two years in a lower‑level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist I role.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia certification for this position.
