Juvenile Detention Counselor (Levels 1-3) – Augusta, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking dedicated Juvenile Detention Counselors (Levels 1‑3) to work at the Augusta Youth Detention Center. Under supervision, you will plan, manage, and evaluate social services programs that support youth rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform intake services and conduct comprehensive assessments for youth.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling to promote positive behavioral change.
• Collaborate with agency stakeholders to develop discharge recommendations and service plans.
• Lead or co‑facilitate cognitive‑behavioral and life‑skills groups, and participate in facility‑wide PBIS activities.
• Prepare and submit required reports, progress reviews, and documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support program delivery, quality assurance, and case management services in the detention facility.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
