Juvenile Correctional Sergeant – Muscogee YDC (Midland, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Sergeant to join the Muscogee Youth Development Center in Midland, GA. You will help create a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while supporting their rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with Department of Juvenile Justice policies.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to promote safety, personal conduct, and rehabilitation.
• Complete administrative paperwork, records, and reports accurately.
• Inspect, inventory, and control security equipment and technology.
• Supervise and train subordinate correctional staff, and act as shift supervisor when needed.
• Monitor youth behavior, intervene when necessary, and ensure a disciplined environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months experience as a lower‑level Juvenile Correctional Officer (or equivalent) or four years of military service.
• Successful completion of leadership Core Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced training within six months of hire.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
