Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Muscogee YDC (Midland, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to lead a unit at the Muscogee Youth Development Center in Midland, GA. In this position you will help create a safe, therapeutic and educational environment for detained youth while supervising staff and ensuring compliance with department policies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security and care of youth in accordance with Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice policies.
• Supervise, guide and assign work to subordinate staff members.
• Conduct active supervision, intervene with youth behavior, and enforce discipline to keep the facility safe.
• Complete administrative paperwork, records, forms and reports.
• Oversee contraband searches, inventories, and control of keys, tools and equipment.
• Develop and enforce work and security procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• At least one year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent, or two years of military experience at E‑5 rank or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Georgia POST certification within six months of hire.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, empathy and professionalism.
