Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Macon RYDC (Georgia)

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to join the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). In this position you will help create a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while supervising staff and ensuring facility security.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with Department of Juvenile Justice policies.
• Supervise and intervene with youth to preserve order and discipline.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure aimed at safety, personal conduct, and rehabilitation.
• Plan, assign, and oversee work of subordinate staff members.
• Complete administrative paperwork, records, forms, and reports.
• Develop and enforce work and security procedures, including contraband searches and equipment control.
• Ensure compliance with all facility policies, rules, and regulations.
• Assist in training, selecting, and orienting new staff.
• Review youth information to identify special attention needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED plus one year experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent.
• Or two years of military experience at the rank of E‑5 or higher.
• Must obtain and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire.
• Ability to meet agency physical agility standards for safety and security duties.
