Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Macon RYDC (Georgia)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a motivated Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to join the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). In this full‑time, day‑shift position you will help create a safe, therapeutic environment for detained youth while supervising staff and maintaining facility security.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with department policies.
• Maintain order by actively supervising and intervening with inappropriate behavior.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to promote rehabilitation.
• Supervise, plan, and evaluate the work of assigned staff members.
• Complete administrative paperwork, records, and reports.
• Conduct contraband searches, manage inventories, and control equipment.
• Enforce facility policies, rules, and regulations.
• Assist in training, selecting, and orienting subordinate staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• One year as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent, OR two years military experience at E‑5 rank or higher.
• Ability to meet agency physical agility standards.
• Must obtain Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire.
