Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Macon RYDC (GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to join the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). In this position you will help create a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while supervising staff and maintaining facility security.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with Department of Juvenile Justice policies.
• Maintain order and discipline through active supervision and intervention.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to promote safety, personal conduct, and rehabilitation.
• Supervise, plan, and evaluate the work of assigned staff members.
• Complete administrative paperwork, records, forms, and reports.
• Develop and enforce work and security procedures, including contraband searches and inventory control.
• Ensure compliance with all facility policies, rules, procedures, and regulations.
• Assist in training, selecting, and orienting subordinate staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• One year experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent, OR two years military experience at rank E‑5 or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain State of Georgia POST certification within six months of hire.
• Physical ability to meet agency‑established agility standards.
