Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Join MetLife’s Global Technology team as an Early Career Technologist. You will help design, develop, test and deploy full‑stack software solutions while integrating AI capabilities to improve customer experiences and business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in gathering and refining product requirements and user stories.
• Support the design, development, testing, and deployment of UI, API and data components.
• Participate in peer reviews of code, solution designs and configurations.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and service requests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify innovative solutions.
• Contribute to integrating AI tools such as GenAI APIs and ML models into applications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
• Internship or academic project experience in software development or AI/ML.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and deliver high‑quality software.
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, COBOL).
• Basic understanding of software design principles, secure coding practices and automated testing.
• Familiarity with database concepts, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with version‑control and CI/CD tools (GitHub Copilot, Azure DevOps).
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevSecOps practices.
• Exposure to AI/ML technologies (Azure OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, Semantic Kernel).
