IT/AV Coordinator – DC Campus

About the role

The University of Maryland’s Washington DC campus seeks an IT/AV Coordinator to support instructional and collaborative technology across classrooms, a lab, and a conference room. The role involves troubleshooting, deploying, and maintaining audiovisual systems to ensure seamless teaching and learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Classroom Technology staff to design and deploy AV solutions in general‑purpose classrooms.
• Review requirements, program Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, and audio DSPs.
• Conduct tests and pilots of new technologies and troubleshoot existing AV programs.
• Provide first‑line support for PC/AV hardware, Apple devices, and related peripherals.
• Distribute incoming service requests to appropriate team members or support groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned by IT management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum three years of audio programming or AV systems experience.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 10 lb.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Crestron control processors and touch panels.
• Audio DSPs (Crestron and other brands).
• Routers and network equipment.
• Windows OS and macOS.
• Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari browsers.
• Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint.
• Active Directory, ServiceNow, Google Gmail.
• Fundamental knowledge of client‑server applications, networking, authentication, application packaging, and imaging.
