IT Desktop Support Coordinator

About the role

The University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology is seeking an IT Desktop Support Coordinator to join the Platform Services team. In this role you will provide technical support for desktop computers, applications, audiovisual equipment, and related technologies across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test desktop hardware, software, and peripherals following university standards.
• Provide one‑on‑one consulting and troubleshooting for end users, diagnosing both recurring and unique issues.
• Lead and coordinate desktop support projects, ensuring timely delivery and documentation.
• Maintain inventory and assist with procurement of software tools and services.
• Respond to service requests during extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency situations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of professional IT experience.
• Valid driver’s license for operating a state vehicle.
• Strong ability to interpret policies, multitask, and deliver customer‑focused service.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
• Experience with JAMF, VDI, scripting, BitLocker, Microsoft Azure, Intune, Office 365, OMS, and Amazon Web Services.
• CompTIA A+ certification (preferred) and relevant Jamf or Microsoft certifications.
