About the role

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Interdisciplinary Scientist to lead scientific and program oversight of medical countermeasure initiatives. Based in Washington, DC, this position supports the development, testing, regulatory compliance, and performance evaluation of critical health solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific, technical, and program oversight for medical countermeasure development, including research, testing, regulatory review, and performance evaluation.
• Analyze the impact of scientific, technical, and budgetary changes on projects, mitigate risks, and advise senior leadership.
• Communicate procurement and contract activities, plans, and progress to HHS partners, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with mission objectives and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, physical science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience meeting the specified semester‑hour requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in scientific oversight, budget analysis, and risk mitigation for health‑related projects.
