About the role
The Instrument Technician I supports the Perioperative Services Instrument Processing Department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This entry‑level position ensures that surgical instruments are cleaned, sterilized, assembled, and ready for use in patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize a wide variety of surgical instruments following established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for damage or wear and report any issues.
- Assemble instrument sets according to surgical case requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and track instrument usage.
- Document processing activities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with perioperative staff to meet surgical schedule demands.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
- Prior experience in instrument processing or a related healthcare environment.
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning and sterilization procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
