Instructional Technology Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education’s Virtual School is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist to support the implementation, administration, training, and troubleshooting of instructional and enterprise technology systems. The role serves educators, administrators, staff, and students by providing expertise in educational technology, Microsoft 365, digital learning platforms, and system integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 services, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other educational systems.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across hardware, software, connectivity, authentication and cloud‑based applications.
• Assist with system implementations, testing and integration of new tools.
• Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities for staff and educators.
• Create user documentation, guides and knowledge‑base resources.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance teaching, learning and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with seven years of program management experience, or two years of relevant experience at the Education Program Specialist level.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Information Technology or a related field (preferred).
• Experience supporting instructional technology initiatives in K‑12, virtual, blended or online learning environments.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Forms, Copilot).
• Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
• Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), single sign‑on (SSO) and rostering integrations.
• Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power Forms).
• Troubleshooting of hardware, software, network connectivity and cloud applications.
• Experience with AI tools and emerging educational technologies.
