Instructional Services Librarian

About the role

The Instructional Services Librarian oversees instruction and reference programs, advancing information literacy across campus. This exempt, full‑time position supports the academic mission by providing library instruction, reference services, and liaison work with faculty and students.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and continuously improve the library’s instruction services, including interactive learning initiatives.
• Plan, implement, and assess the institution’s information literacy program.
• Develop, schedule, and coordinate library involvement with Freshman Seminar (UNIV 1001).
• Maintain LibGuides standards and create instructional materials for library use.
• Provide classroom, online, and reference‑desk instruction on research skills and library resources.
• Serve as liaison to academic departments for research support and collection development.

Required profile

• Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA‑accredited program.
• 1–2 years of experience in academic library systems, electronic resources, or instructional services (recent graduates are also encouraged to apply).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of academic librarianship principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and library software applications such as LibGuides and LibWizard.
