Infectious Disease Physician (Faculty Appointment Available)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking two energetic Infectious Disease Physicians to join its growing Department of Infectious Diseases at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. The positions require board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases and offer the possibility of a faculty appointment at the University of Queensland School of Medicine in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultations, including support for solid organ and hematopoietic stem‑cell transplant programs.
• Participate in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and control initiatives.
• Contribute to the department’s clinical research program and fellowship training activities.
• Engage with specialty clinics such as Travel, NTM, and Transplant, and manage the ambulatory infusion suite and OPAT program.

Required profile

• Board certified or board eligible in Infectious Diseases.
• Strong clinical skills, academic accomplishment, and professional behavior.
• Academic credentials that qualify for a faculty appointment at the University of Queensland School of Medicine (optional).
