Industrial Engineering Summer Intern – 2027 (Santa Clara)

About the role

Join the FabVantage 360 and Industrial Engineering team at Applied Materials for a summer 2027 internship in Santa Clara. You will support engineering and operations projects, gaining hands‑on experience in data collection, analysis, and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and report operational and engineering data using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Create and maintain documentation, presentations, and status reports.
• Develop or enhance simple Python scripts to automate repetitive data‑processing tasks.
• Assist in documenting business processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and recommend process optimizations.

Required profile

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred).
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint through coursework or projects.
• Strong interest in data analysis, process improvement, and engineering operations.
• Ability to work onsite in Santa Clara, CA for the internship period.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Basic AI prompt‑engineering skills and experience with GenAI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT).
• Basic programming knowledge in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Power BI, or Tableau (preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
