Industrial Electrician – Maintenance & Repair

About the role

The Electrician will perform maintenance to keep plant equipment, machinery, and tools operating safely and efficiently at Gerdau's Midlothian facility. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, lubricating, and re‑assembling a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals to install, adjust, and repair equipment.
• Fit, weld, and assemble structural components, machinery frames, and plant accessories.
• Troubleshoot pumps, gearboxes, motors, cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems at an intermediate level.
• Conduct preventative inspections of plant machinery and mobile equipment.
• Cut, bend, and thread conduit, pipe, and tubing; maintain records of work performed and material usage.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; AAS in industrial maintenance preferred.
• 3‑5 years of heavy‑industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, lift up to 70 lb, and operate mobile equipment.
• Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, and tolerate extreme temperatures.

Required skills

• AC/DC motor knowledge, gear box mechanics, lubrication principles.
• Welding (stick, TIG) and cutting torch operation.
• NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting.
• Reading schematics/blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.
