Inbound Logistics Coordinator – Ocean Freight

About the role

Four Hands is seeking an Inbound Logistics Coordinator to manage ocean freight shipments from arrival at the port to delivery at its distribution network. You will act as the central point of contact for steamship lines, rail ramps, drayage partners, and warehouse teams, ensuring timely and cost‑effective movement of containers.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily ocean vessel arrivals, container availability, and rail schedules.
• Track freight booking releases, confirmations, and maintain milestones in the transportation management system.
• Maintain accurate transit times in the ERP for receiving and planning teams.
• Assign container pickups to approved drayage partners and schedule delivery appointments with warehouse receiving teams.
• Serve as primary liaison for warehouse receiving, aligning inbound flow with dock capacity and resolving delivery questions.
• Monitor port last free days, coordinate timely pickups, and minimize demurrage, per diem, and detention charges.
• Report detention and demurrage costs, track causes and trends for cost prevention.
• Resolve logistics bottlenecks such as customs holds, gate congestion, and chassis shortages.
• Prepare and distribute a daily inbound shipment summary highlighting arrivals, exceptions, and priorities.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in ocean import logistics, drayage coordination, or port operations.
• Strong understanding of port terminal operations, steamship lines, rail ramps, and chassis pools.
• Excellent multitasking, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with transportation management systems.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for transit time management.
