HVAC/R Install Technician

About the role

The HVAC/R Install Technician installs, replaces, modifies and commissions commercial HVAC, refrigeration and related mechanical systems. The role works closely with project managers, plumbers, electricians and other trades to ensure installations meet codes, manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical equipment including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers and air handlers.
• Install refrigerant and condensate piping, ductwork, controls wiring and associated components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and mechanical drawings.
• Perform brazing, soldering, pipe fitting and mechanical assembly as required.
• Conduct pressure testing, evacuation, charging and system start‑up procedures.
• Coordinate installation activities with project managers, subcontractors and other trades.

Required profile

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC/R installation experience (preferred).
• EPA certification (or ability to obtain within an established timeframe).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and work in confined spaces, rooftops and elevated areas.

Required skills

• Commercial HVAC and refrigeration system installation.
• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation.
• Brazing and soldering of pipework.
• Controls wiring and integration.
• Pressure testing, evacuation and charging of refrigerant systems.
