HVAC Service Manager – Operations & Dispatch Lead

About the role

The College of St. Joseph the Worker in Steubenville, Ohio is launching an HVAC service department and needs a hands‑on, systems‑oriented Service Manager. This builder‑type role will start as the primary dispatcher and estimator, then design and scale the department’s operational workflows, logistics, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the initial dispatcher to understand workflow and develop a scalable dispatch protocol.
• Design the full “Call‑to‑Cash” cycle from customer contact through invoicing.
• Build and manage scheduling systems in coordination with apprenticeship availability, optimizing route density and response times.
• Mentor and motivate a team of Catholic HVAC technicians and apprentices, ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Monitor technician sales performance, ticket values, and conversion rates to set revenue targets.
• Provide technical support for complex field issues and review quotes before client delivery.
• Handle high‑level customer escalations to maintain satisfaction and retention.
• Continuously adjust daily schedules in real‑time to accommodate emergencies, overruns, or absences.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in HVAC service operations or a related field.
• Proven ability to dispatch, estimate, and optimize logistical workflows.
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring technicians or apprentices.
• Comfort working closely with senior management on financial projections.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
