HVAC Commissioning Technician - Construction

About the role

Kennedy Mechanical seeks an experienced HVAC Commissioning Technician to lead start‑up and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems and controls on construction projects. This position ensures a smooth hand‑over of new builds to property owners.

Key responsibilities

• Commission and start up newly installed HVAC systems and controls.
• Correct deficiencies, measure and record operational data, and ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Monitor sound and comfort levels, perform maintenance and repairs, and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Communicate with clients to confirm satisfaction and maintain cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols and established procedures.

Required profile

• Strong customer service orientation and excellent verbal/written communication.
• Availability during standard business hours with occasional after‑hours support for emergencies.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and physically able to lift up to 50 lb (or more with assistance).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights.
• 5+ years of HVAC service experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Required skills

• HVAC system commissioning and equipment troubleshooting.
• Controls operation and electrical/mechanical fault diagnosis.
• Technical aptitude with knowledge of HVAC equipment.
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• EPA certification (preferred).
