HVAC Apprentice

About the role

The HVAC Apprentice supports senior technicians with installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. Working on both indoor and outdoor job sites, the apprentice gains hands‑on experience while developing the technical foundation needed for a future technician role. The position requires a strong work ethic, punctuality, and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
• Position, secure, and install HVAC equipment under supervision.
• Use hand and power tools as directed while maintaining clean and safe work areas.
• Follow safety procedures and proper PPE usage at all times.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training and technical education programs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in or completion of an HVAC trade school or technical program preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and demonstrate reliability.
• Basic math and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and tools.
• EPA certification or willingness to obtain when eligible.
• Knowledge of refrigeration system components.
