About the role
The United Nations Office of Counter‑Terrorism is seeking a motivated Human Rights Intern to support its Global Human Rights Programme. This full‑time, unpaid position offers exposure to UN work on human rights, rule of law, and counter‑terrorism, either remotely or on‑site in New York.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, editing, and preparing background documents such as reports, briefings, presentations, talking points and outreach material, including social‑media content.
- Take notes during relevant meetings and produce clear meeting reports and summaries.
- Support research activities related to human rights, rule of law, and counter‑terrorism.
Required profile
- Enthusiasm for human rights and counter‑terrorism issues.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Human Rights Officer and receive guidance from the Chief of Section.
- Commitment to a full‑time schedule of 35 hours per week for a period of 3‑6 months.
