About the role
The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an entry‑level Human Resources Technician to support payroll and personnel operations at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center. This full‑time position offers a chance to develop HR expertise while serving the public.
Key responsibilities
- Calculate payroll, process deductions, and enter data into the HR system.
- Enter and verify personnel transactions for new hires and existing staff.
- Coordinate hiring paperwork, clearances, and benefit enrollments.
- Issue employee paychecks, earnings statements, and respond to payroll inquiries.
- Provide information on payroll, tax issues, and benefit plans to staff and employees.
- Review and resolve personnel transaction problems.
- Monitor and distribute employee paychecks and verify attendance and work hours.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least six months of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to learn and follow established HR and payroll procedures.
