HR Tech 1 – Entry‑Level HR & Payroll Associate

About the role

This position supports the Department of Juvenile Justice by learning and processing personnel and payroll transactions. Under direct supervision, you will handle employment entry, payroll computation, and provide information to staff and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate payroll deductions, enter data into the computer system, and issue employee paychecks.
• Complete employment entry processes for new hires and coordinate hiring paperwork.
• Process enrollments, changes, and answer benefit‑program questions.
• Provide payroll, tax, and benefit information to agency staff and employees.
• Verify attendance, hours worked, and post adjustments to official records.
• Resolve personnel transaction problems and schedule paycheck distribution.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED plus six months of related work experience.
• Ability to learn payroll and personnel systems, and to follow detailed procedural guidelines.
