HR Generalist

About the role

HMC Gears, a manufacturer of large gears and components founded more than 100 years ago, is looking for an HR Generalist in Princeton. The role supports management and employees through all stages of the employment cycle. It is a permanent position with competitive wages and benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Verify attendance and time-off programs against company policy and approve time cards for bi-weekly payroll
• Handle onboarding and orientation of new hires and offboarding of terminations
• Monitor the performance review process and schedule and track employee safety training
• Manage job postings, recruitment and application tracking, including interviews
• Build relationships with local schools and college career departments
• Administer the benefits program: open enrollment, claims resolution, invoice audits, enrollments, terminations and qualifying event changes
• Act as Privacy Officer for all Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Maintain HRIS records, personnel files and databases; ensure compliance with FMLA, EEO, AAP and I-9 rules
• Write and update company policies, investigate safety incidents and file reports with OSHA and workers' compensation insurers
• Advise employees and management on policies and procedures and stay current on employment legislation

Required profile

• Ability to compute, classify, record and verify data for records
• Exceptional computer, organization and communication skills, and confidentiality
• Associate degree in HR, business or a related field, or HR-related work experience and training
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in HR, business or a related field, or an active HRCI or SHRM certification
• Preferred: manufacturing environment experience
