Household Manager – Part‑Time (Chicago)

About the role

We are a busy family of five seeking a proactive Household Manager to keep our home running smoothly. This part‑time position involves overseeing daily details, from laundry to errands, ensuring everything is organized and ready for our fast‑paced schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of laundry and linens, including washing, folding, dry‑cleaning coordination, and assisting the housekeeping team with sheet changes.
• Manage weekly grocery shopping (Whole Foods, Costco, Amazon, Target) and maintain accurate pantry and household inventories.
• Handle household errands such as package receipt, FedEx shipments, gift purchases, and vehicle fueling and washing.
• Perform daily household resets: unload dishwasher, restock supplies, keep common areas tidy, and prepare the home for housekeeping visits.
• Support family logistics: prepare backpacks, sports gear, and assist with event setup, including ordering flowers and stocking the wine cooler.
• Maintain outdoor areas, assist with seasonal upkeep, and coordinate vendor repairs and maintenance.
• Provide light meal‑prep support and keep kitchen storage organized.
• Occasionally travel to the family’s Michigan property to assess needs and restock supplies.

Required profile

• Proactive, self‑directed, and reliable with a strong sense of ownership.
• Comfortable working independently without detailed daily checklists.
• Clear, proactive communication and ability to anticipate household needs.
