Hospital Pharmacist PRN

About the role

The PRN Hospital Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to hospital patients, ensuring safe preparation, dispensing, and documentation of medication therapy. This part‑time position supports the pharmacy team in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to the facility within 90 minutes when needed.
• Interpret medical orders, maintain accurate patient medication profiles, and compound sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
• Issue controlled substances, monitor drug therapy for interactions and contraindications, and report adverse drug reactions.
• Assist with pharmacokinetics consults, review antibiotic susceptibility data, and support formulary management.
• Provide clinical consultation, suggest cost‑effective therapeutic alternatives, and document all interventions.
• Engage in quality‑improvement activities, data collection, and staff education.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (PharmD preferred) and a current pharmacy license in the state.
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Ability to work on‑call rotations, lift small objects, and communicate clearly with healthcare professionals.
• Flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed.
