Health Aide – Night Shift (Augusta, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a compassionate Health Aide to join its night‑shift team in Augusta. You will work directly with doctors, nurses, and counselors to support adults living with serious mental illness, trauma, and behavioral challenges, helping them stay safe and progress toward community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
• Take vital signs, prepare patients for medical appointments, and document observations.
• Facilitate social‑skill practice, self‑care routines, and group activities like games or crafts.
• Monitor patient areas to prevent conflicts, conduct safety checks, and remove prohibited items.
• Provide de‑escalation support, record patient progress, and communicate with the care team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer proficiency for note‑taking.
• Ability to remain calm and kind in stressful situations.
