Head of Market Risk – Securitized Products Trading

About the role

Santander is seeking an experienced executive to lead Market Risk for its securitized products trading franchise in the United States. Reporting to the US Head of CIB Market Risk/CRO, you will shape the risk framework, drive policy, and support senior management decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee market risk for all US securitized products trading, including agency RMBS, CMBS, non‑agency ABS, CLOs, whole‑loan trading and securitization.
• Lead market risk for the new CMBS conduit business.
• Manage limit structures, policy reviews and product onboarding.
• Maintain and enhance risk infrastructure and systems supporting securitized products.
• Coordinate relationships with US and European regulators.
• Drive large regulatory projects such as FRTB and implement AI tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management or equivalent; graduate degree in a quantitative field preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of agency and non‑agency securitized products and their trading strategies.
• Strong understanding of prepayment and valuation methodologies for securitized assets.
• Proven ability to advise trading desks on risk taking and mitigation.
• Experience managing regulatory projects and cross‑regional stakeholder relationships.
