Head of Corporate Development

About the role

Cohere is scaling its enterprise AI platform and needs a strategic leader to drive high‑impact partnerships, M&A, and long‑term business development. The Head of Corporate Development will expand Cohere’s ecosystem through alliances, channel relationships, and targeted acquisitions, especially in regulated and government markets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute M&A strategy, evaluating acquisitions that strengthen the core platform, especially in compute infrastructure and regulatory compliance tools.
• Lead due diligence and post‑merger integration to maximize value and revenue synergies.
• Support market entry into new verticals and geographies through collaborations with industry leaders and government partners.
• Partner with product, engineering, legal, finance, and government relations teams to ensure deals align with technical, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and negotiate transformative alliances with telcos, hardware providers, cloud platforms, and government entities to accelerate sovereign AI deployments.

Required profile

• 12+ years in corporate development, strategic partnerships, or investment banking within a technology company, with proven AI, SaaS, or enterprise software experience.
• Track record of closing partnerships and M&A deals that generated significant revenue growth or strategic market access.
• Experience navigating sovereign AI deployments, regulatory compliance (CTA, export controls), and government partnerships.

Required skills

• Strong negotiation and deal‑structuring ability for complex, multi‑stakeholder agreements.
• Extensive network in AI/enterprise tech ecosystems, including telcos, hardware providers, and government entities.
• Analytical rigor with expertise in financial modeling, market sizing, and valuation analysis.
• Cross‑functional leadership and stakeholder management across product, engineering, legal, finance, and policy teams.
