Hazmat Technician – Safety & Emergency Response

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician for its Wilmington, OH service center. The role supports emergency response, hazardous material clean‑up, site remediation and equipment decontamination while ensuring compliance with company safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform emergency response and clean‑up of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
• Conduct site remediation and equipment decontamination.
• Handle, containerize, and document hazardous materials according to R+L procedures.
• Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous‑material shipments for regulatory compliance.
• Lead safety initiatives, complete safety documentation, and uphold high safety standards.
• Set up and participate in live training events to maintain personnel competency.
• Coach co‑workers on unsafe behaviors and contribute to specialized projects as needed.

Required profile

• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lb.
• Ability to thrive in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced team environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to report issues promptly.
• Detail‑oriented with capacity to manage multiple tasks confidentially.

Required skills

• OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience operating emergency‑response tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and compliance auditing.
