Growth Engineer

About the role

You will own the engineering that helps people discover Sauna, try it, and become customers—handling website experiments, tracking, integrations, and internal growth tools. You’ll partner closely with marketers to choose, build, and evaluate experiments, requiring a deep understanding of the product, its economics, and the ability to question ideas and propose better approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end acquisition tracking: define conversion events, implement browser and server‑side tracking, and connect campaign attribution to sign‑ups, usage, and payments.
• Ship website and funnel experiments: build landing pages, forms, and conversion flows using TypeScript and React, collaborating with design and marketing.
• Make data dependable: use SQL and PostHog to analyze funnels and cohorts, reconcile ad‑platform reports with product and billing data, and factor trial/inference costs into acquisition economics.
• Turn hypotheses into tested releases: set success metrics and guardrails, run statistically sound experiments, and recommend actions based on results.
• Build tools that automate recurring growth work: integrate analytics, billing, CRM, and marketing systems, leveraging AI coding tools with robust failure handling.

Required profile

• Shipped production software across frontend, backend, and data; comfortable with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, APIs, webhooks, and SQL.
• Implemented conversion tracking and ad‑platform integrations; understand how signals influence campaign optimization.
• Instrumented event‑based analytics (e.g., PostHog) and used data to drive growth or product decisions.
• Deep knowledge of funnels, attribution, and acquisition economics; can explain metric choices and potential pitfalls.
• Active user of AI tools, taking responsibility for output and able to verify and adapt code.
• Works independently, communicates clearly with non‑technical teammates, and cares about customer experience.
