Ground Truth Organizer (Part-Time) – Multiple States

About the role

Swing Left’s Ground Truth Organizer supports volunteers to conduct voter outreach, canvassing and phone banking in competitive races across selected states. The role combines in‑person event leadership, virtual training, and coordination with local campaign staff.

Key responsibilities

• Knock on doors, host and lead in‑person canvasses, and support bus‑trip canvassing events.
• Lead and participate in virtual phone banks and volunteer recruitment activities.
• Meet directly with volunteers, build relationships, and provide 1:1 support and debriefing.
• Facilitate virtual trainings via Zoom for canvass hosts, phone bankers, and Ground Truth orientations.
• Serve on an on‑call rotation for evenings and weekends to support active canvasses.
• Track voter contacts, volunteer recruitment, and canvass turnout against measurable goals.
• Assist with event logistics, venue booking, material coordination, and attendance confirmation.
• Maintain tracking tools (Google Sheets, Slack, Asana, EveryAction) for accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to Swing Left’s mission and values.
• Located in AK, AZ, CO, IA, ME or Boston, MA and willing to travel regularly using personal vehicle.
• Grassroots volunteer organizing experience in an electoral context.
• Demonstrated experience with voter contact, door‑knocking, canvassing and phone banking.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a hybrid environment.
• Commitment to equity, belonging and continuous learning.
• Strong relationship‑management, written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability for regular evening and weekend work.
