Grant Writer – Remote Contractor

About the role

As a Grant Writer at Climate Finance Solutions, you will partner with climate innovators to develop competitive applications for federal and state funding, advising on project design, commercialization plans, and partnership strategies. The role is fully remote and contract‑based, with high‑performing contractors considered for advancement to a Grant Development Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior staff, the Director of Grants, and the administrative team to manage the full proposal development process, from project design to submission.
• Handle multiple proposal projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting tight deadlines.
• Draft complex technical narratives, work plans, budget justifications, letters of commitment, and other essential components for federal, state, and public funding programs.
• Conduct external research using peer‑reviewed sources and gather internal data to enrich proposal content.
• Act as a strategic advisor to client teams, refining project scope, commercialization plans, business development approaches, and fundraising strategies before drafting.
• Liaise with external partners and stakeholders to support consortium building and proposal development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and fluency in English.
• Minimum six years of grant writing experience, including at least three years as lead writer on funded proposals.
• Strong scientific or technical knowledge relevant to climate solutions.
• Proven track record securing grants from climate‑focused federal and state agencies such as DOE, USDA, DOD, NSF, EPA, CEC, NYSERDA, and MassCEC.
• Excellent writing, grammar, and research skills with the ability to produce clear, compelling narratives.
• Strong oral and written communication for collaboration with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently in a fast‑paced startup environment and manage project schedules and deadlines.
