About the role

The Graduate Summer Associate Program offers graduate students a ten‑week, full‑time internship within the Markets Group of the New York Fed. Interns work on real‑world projects that support open market operations, financial market monitoring, and foreign exchange services, gaining exposure to the U.S. financial system and policy implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in projects that support open market operations, debt issuance, and foreign exchange services.
• Monitor and analyze financial market developments and stability indicators for senior staff and policymakers.
• Assist in managing the Federal Reserve’s balance‑sheet composition and reporting to the Federal Open Market Committee.
• Provide account services to foreign central banks, international agencies, and U.S. government entities.

Required profile

• Graduate student pursuing a degree in economics, finance, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical mindset with a keen interest in financial markets.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
