Graduate Nurse Associate – Cardiac Specialty Unit

About the role

The Graduate Nurse Associate role supports the transition of newly‑graduated nurses into professional practice on the Cardiac Specialty Unit at Parkwest Medical Center. This full‑time, day‑shift position provides hands‑on patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs, intake‑output, and oxygen saturation.
• Assist with patient hygiene, nutrition, and hydration needs.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment following infection‑control and OSHA standards.
• Support the RN in obtaining nursing histories and documenting patient information.
• Observe and report any significant changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Perform delegated tasks such as emptying drains, canisters, and urine bags when trained.

Required profile

• Recent graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Ability to follow established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Strong therapeutic communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to seek guidance when uncertain about procedures.

Required skills

• Competence in measuring vital signs and basic patient assessments.
• Knowledge of infection‑control practices and standard precautions.
• Basic charting and documentation under RN supervision.
