Graduate Assistant – History Teaching

About the role

The Department of History & Liberal Studies at East Texas A&M University seeks a Graduate Assistant to support teaching activities. This role is designed for an active graduate student pursuing a master’s in History, offering hands‑on experience in classroom management, grading, and instructional support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty with grading assignments, exams, and maintaining grade records.
• Prepare and proctor examinations, and return graded work to students on schedule.
• Develop teaching materials such as syllabi, visual aids, answer keys, and course websites.
• Lead discussion sections, tutorials, and laboratory sessions.
• Maintain regular office hours to advise and support students.
• Order or obtain classroom supplies and distribute materials.

Required profile

• Active graduate student at East Texas A&M University, working toward a master’s degree in History.
• Strong punctuality, communication, and ability to multitask.
• Professional demeanor when handling confidential information and interacting with faculty, staff, and students.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Google tools.
