About the role

The Global Software Support Engineer III provides advanced software support for Applied Materials equipment, managing customer issues, troubleshooting complex problems, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve product quality. This role involves prioritizing software requests, validating enhancements, and delivering training to field and lab technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customer expectations and prioritize software release requests per platform.
• Investigate high‑value problems, systemic bugs, and software failures independently.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues and work with engineering teams to enhance product quality.
• Track software performance at external customer sites and feed scenarios back to test teams.
• Validate customer scenarios for key enhancements and develop readiness checklists for new product introductions.
• Engage early with product development on customer features and create training programs for field and manufacturing engineers.
• Deliver training for junior engineers on procedures and detailed product operation.
• Interface with external customers for requirements analysis, prioritization, and scheduling.

Required profile

• Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in software support and related disciplines.
• Acts as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and may lead small, low‑risk projects.
• Solves complex problems using judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.
