Global Portfolio Application Engineer – Coated Abrasives

About the role

The Global Portfolio Application Engineer – Coated Abrasives will support 3M’s Abrasive Systems Division and the Coated Abrasive Belt portfolio worldwide. You will partner with customers, internal teams and global partners to drive new product commercialization, develop innovative applications, and expand market share.

Key responsibilities

• Lead growth initiatives through new product launches, application development, and customer collaborations.
• Coordinate global field trials, evaluate competition, and replicate successful applications using digital tools.
• Develop compelling value propositions and launch training materials for new products.
• Provide technical expertise to shape industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Deliver customer‑focused training via e‑media and support key accounts and OEM relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of technical support or application engineering experience in a private, public, government or military setting.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with global teams and lead commercialization projects.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of coated abrasives and abrasive belt systems.
• Experience with digital application engineering tools and e‑training platforms.
• Ability to analyze market data, customer processes, and competitive practices.
