General Trades Tech 3

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a General Trades Tech 3 to perform semi‑skilled and skilled building‑trade work in state facilities. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating maintenance projects, and providing 24‑hour on‑call support for emergency breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Supervises and guides subordinate staff and contractors.
• Coordinates engineering, maintenance, renovation and construction projects for state facilities.
• Reviews plans and conducts on‑site inspections to ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Manages parts and supply inventory and oversees preventative maintenance and work orders.
• Maintains a safe working environment and implements safety programs.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with at least three years of building repairs and maintenance experience, or two years as a General Trades Tech 2.
• Leadership ability to supervise staff and contractors.
• 24‑hour on‑call availability for emergency facility breakdowns.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with building repairs, maintenance, and installation of security or climate‑control systems.
