General Superintendent – Commercial Construction

About the role

The General Superintendent is the senior field leader responsible for directing and overseeing commercial construction projects from start‑up through completion. Reporting to the COO, this on‑site role ensures company policies, safety standards, and project execution requirements are consistently applied.

Key responsibilities

• Provide company‑wide field leadership, operational oversight, risk management and workforce development.
• Manage day‑to‑day construction activities, visit job sites regularly and chair monthly field team meetings.
• Oversee warehouse operations to ensure labor, material, tools and equipment are available and safe.
• Participate in pre‑construction, weekly OAC, bi‑weekly project management and leadership meetings.
• Review plans, specifications and contracts with Superintendents to ensure full scope understanding.
• Monitor construction costs, labor budgets and productivity metrics to meet project and company goals.
• Lead field teams and subcontractors to achieve quality, schedule, safety and productivity objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Superintendent or in progressive commercial construction leadership roles.
• Experience with tenant improvements, ground‑up builds, renovations, life‑science projects and similar commercial types.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety practices.
• Proven ability to lead large field teams, including multiple Superintendents and site personnel.
• Current OSHA 30 certification (required) and CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).

• Construction management software.
• Building Management Systems knowledge (security, fire, mechanical, electrical, data).
• Interpretation of civil, structural and architectural drawings.
